Do not scars come after the battle has been fought?
What is the reason for these wounds, I ask?
An internal war, with bloody sins self taught.
I, the teacher, I, the student, be quick, be fast.

Never fast enough.

Will you open up for someone with closed doors?
Is there really a time and place for every thing?
Leave me on the bed, but hoist me up from the floor.
For me, there is no time, no place, I am not a “thing.”

But why am I broken?
A poem about depression and what it entails on a person.

The scars refer to the depressing state itself, while "battle" refers to moments that are supposed to make you said - but what is the reason for the sadness with depression? Usually nothing. It's an ongoing "war" with yourself, and you have only yourself to get yourself out of it, which is why you make stupid decisions or say things you don't mean (and sometimes don't even remember). You have to help yourself, and teach yourself, to be able to function appropriately - but you're never "fast enough" for society.

Generally people do not understand people who have depression. It's hard to get to someone with it, after all - they have "closed doors." Sometimes people with depression are cast aside because the others don't want to deal with them - they don't know when to help or what to say. However, all we want is patience and support - when you've hit rock bottom, help us back up, do something to cheer us up, any little thing will do - you don't have to say anything. Some things are better left unsaid. The last thing you should ever do is cast them aside - we are not things, we do not deserve to be dropped when you've already lifted us up in little ways.

As for the last sentence, here is a song by Paramore to help enlighten:
"Yeah
Cause we are broken
What must we do to restore
Our innocence
And all the promise we adored
Give us life again cause we just wanna be whole"

- We Are Broken, Paramore

We are not "things," and yet we break.

I was going to make this longer, but I'm worried if I do anything more with it, it'll ruin the piece.

Enjoy.
